Team Fortress 2: Soldier

The second class I've drawn so far, but in my usual "just draw some scene" manner. Whereas the spy was drawn from the official "group" shot, I drew the soldier from a part of the Meet the Team video series. It's about 50 times easier to draw characters when you have something to draw them from.

This drawing got really busy really quickly. I'd originally just wanted to draw the soldier, but he needed some ground to stand on, and you can't have ground without sky, and I guess I should match the sort of run-down desert facility look of the maps, and a capture point would be good there, and let's put in some rockets, and a spy would definitely be trying to sneak up from behind...

Lousy spies.

Lot's of fun Photoshop stuff going on here... The fences were made with the fiber render tool, and gave it depth with a second copy. The rockets got a faint motion blur. But the best part was the cloaked spy. I copied the finished image, applied a mask in the shape in wanted, then liquefied the image just a bit. I gotta say, the result is better than I expected.
